Left Right Activities

I am so excited to share my 200th resource, Left Right Activities, with you!

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Left-Right-Activities-3383435

Knowing our left from right is a concept which is able to be taught and understood during the preschool years and yet it is something which people can struggle with into adulthood.

This packet includes the following printables:

- Color posters (pages 4-5) - you can post these posters in your classroom to help your students remember which direction is left and which is right,

Lef-Right-Posters

- Black and white posters (pages 6-7),

Lef-Right-Posters

- Five different sets of printable left and right worksheets that will be fun for kids and help them practice their ability to recognize left from right.
Students follow the directions to identify which object is on the right or left. (pages 8-12)

Left-right-Worksheets

- Left/Right board game - First, print your Left/Right game board. I recommend printing on card stock or laminating to make it sturdy. For the game you'll need a die and a game piece for your students.
To play, place your tokens on the space marked "Start." Each player rolls the die and moves the number of spaces indicated. Depending on where you land, you may go back, skip ahead, lose a turn, or get to roll again!
When they land on the space they must identify the picture. You may have to help your students if they are just learning their left from their right. If you use this with older kids who feel like there should be some penalty for not knowing the sides, you could just have them move back one or two spaces each time they don’t know the answer.
The winner is the first player to get their token at the end. (page 13)

Lef-Right-Board-Game

- Fish sorting - print both pages 14 and 15 on card stock or laminate them to make them sturdy. Cut out the fish (page 15). Students need to simply sort the fish to either the left or right fish tank.

Color Grid Reference Game + A Freebie

I played a fun game with my kiddos on a chessboard the other day. They absolutely loved it.
This is a great activity because it has more than one focus. While practicing their colors, kiddos learn grid reference and build their fine motor skills during play.

Here is what you need:

a chessboard
pom poms (lots of them)
recording sheets (optional)

The objective of the game is simple. Set up the chessboard with pom poms. Call the coordinate points, the children have to read the grid coordinates and identify colors in the correct positions.

Grid Reference Game Plus A Freebie

Here is the recording sheet I wiped up for this. I created a simple recording sheet without coordinates. You can grab a copy by clicking the picture.

Grid Reference Game Plus A Freebie

The objective of the game is to read the grid coordinates name the color and simply color the recording sheets.

Setting up this game is a little bit time-consuming. So I created a resource based on this game. Now I can use this game with my students for independent work, as review work, or even as a center activity!

First, I created the Color Grid Reference Game...

Grid Reference Game Plus A Freebie

...seeing that my students enjoy playing this game I created the Woodland Animals Grid Reference Game.

Grid Reference Game Plus A Freebie

Both packets include:
- 3 different (8x6) grids.

Grid Reference Game Board

- Recording sheets with coordinates (3x12) and

Grid Reference Game Recording Sheet

- Answer key

Grid Reference Game Answer Sheets

- There are also blank recording sheets that can be used to extend the activity.

The best part about this packet is that it can be easily differentiated.
The older students have to read the grid coordinates and write the color words in the recording sheets, while the youngest kids can find a color and simply color the recording sheets.

You can use the b&w version as a coloring pages - Students simply cut out the puzzle strips, glue back in numerical order on construction paper according to the skip counting pattern and color the pictures.
